William Henry Harrison

... was 68 years and 23 days old when he took office – the oldest ever US President to do so, before Ronald Reagan. He was the first to die in office.

The cause of his death was diagnosed at the time as pneumonia, believed to have been directly caused by the bad weather at his inauguration ceremony; but medical analysis in 2014 attributed it to enteric fever (which is more or less synonymous with typhoid).

He was succeeded as President by his Vice–President, John Tyler. His grandson, Benjamin Harrison, was the 23rd President – in office from 1889 to 1893.
